Donate to Brave Heart Children

Brave Heart is funded through the generosity of individuals and businesses. Financial donations or donating items for the Brave Heart programs enable to us to continue to support the children in Louisiana. Below is the breakdown of the costs of the items we give each child.

An entire Brave Heart Gift Bag can be purchased for $50
A Personal Hygiene Bag can be purchased for $7.00
A Box of School Supplies can be purchased for $10.00
Comfort Items can be purchased for $10.00
Ownership Items can be purchased for $6.00

In addition to supplying the children with these items we offer other programs such as Graduation Recognition, Scholarship, and a Birthday Program that continue to support the children through their time in the foster care program and beyond. School Supplies: 5-10 years: scissors, glue, small spiral notepad; 11-18 years: yellow marker, dictionary, planner, calculator, math set

 

Life Books: 1” blinders with the front page insert and the protective sheets. We also need groups to print the pages for the Life Books, we can furnish the paper.

Brave Heart Wish List

 

Bag Content Underwriter

Each child's Brave Heart Bag contains items for personal hygiene, personal ownership, and comfort. Items such as brushes, shampoo, toothbrushes, school supply boxes, blanket, stuffed animal, journals, etc.

 

Life Books

When a child has been removed from their home, the Social Workers are required by the State to assist the child in preparing and maintaining a "Life Book". A record of events, people and places in the child's life helps to provide a sense of belonging to a community. Brave Heart has volunteers to assemble the books, but we need assistance in the cost of supplies for the books. Each book cost approximately $20 to complete.

 

Family Visitation Room

Many of the Office of Community Services Family Visitation Rooms are in need of renovations. The children have supervised family visits in these rooms and they need to be refurbished with child-friendly furniture, toys, and games. The rooms also need to give a warm, friendly, and happy environment for the visit.

Jansport Bag Underwriter

The duffle/backpack bags are given to the children when they are removed from their home due to abuse/neglect. The majority of time, the child enters protective care with nothing. Everything the child has known (family, toys, books, school supplies) are gone and they face an uncertain future. Wholesale cost of each Jansport bag is approximately $20 a piece.

 

Brave Heart Book Underwriter

The little book is placed in the bags for the younger children. The story describes a child named "Bear". Bear talks about his fears as he is taken away from his home due to abuse/neglect and learns to have courage and a brave heart. Cost of publishing each book is approximately $10 each.

 

Vehicle

As Brave Heart moves into other parishes there is a greater need to have an office vehicle to transport supplies to the Offices of Community Services and to deliver Birthday Cake Celebrations.
